Why can an MT5 trade close automatically when a stop-loss appears in the trade history?

If a trade on MT5 closes automatically and a stop-loss (SL) appears in the trade history, it means a stop-loss was set on that position — even if you don't recall setting one. MT5 records the stop-loss level at the time the trade was placed, and if the market reaches that level, the position will be closed automatically.

You can verify this by reviewing your closed trade history in MT5: the stop-loss value will be visible in the trade details. If you did not intentionally set a stop-loss, it may have been entered accidentally when placing the order. Always double-check the SL field when opening a position to ensure no unintended value has been entered.
