# What is the IP address policy?

**What is the IP address policy?**

Your IP address throughout your Maven journey must match the same geographical region to verify you didn’t receive outside assistance.

If we see that your IP address has changed, we will ask for proof and reasoning of why this has occurred. (Proof may involve plane tickets, live location checking through another medium, or another approach that Maven sees fit.)

**Why might my IP address show a different country during KYC?**

IP address mismatches during KYC verification can occur for legitimate reasons:

* **VPN or Proxy Usage**: If you're using a VPN, proxy service, or similar tool, it will mask your actual location with the server location.
* **ISP Routing**: Some internet service providers route traffic through international servers, which can cause your IP to show a different country even though you're physically located elsewhere. This is particularly common with mobile networks.
* **Browser or Device Issues**: Using different browsers or devices may sometimes detect different IPs. Clearing your browser cache or trying a different browser (like Brave) can help.

**VPN and VPS Usage**

The use of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and VPS (Virtual Private Servers) is permitted for trading activities and account access. You may use a VPN even if it causes your IP address to appear from a different location. If an IP change is detected, you may be asked to explain the reason — providing proof that you were using a VPN is sufficient.

**Important:** Do not use a VPN while undergoing the KYC process. Make sure your VPN is disabled before starting identity verification to avoid mismatches that could complicate the review.

**Note:** Using a VPN does not override geographic account eligibility restrictions. Traders from countries where account purchases are not permitted cannot use a VPN to bypass this restriction.

**If an IP mismatch is detected:**

1. **Do not use VPN**: Disable any VPN, proxy, or location-masking services before retrying KYC
2. **Use a stable connection**: Connect via WiFi instead of mobile internet if possible
3. **Try a different browser**: Attempt the KYC process using a different browser (Brave browser is recommended)
4. **Provide proof if needed**: If you're traveling or working in a different country from your residency, be prepared to provide travel documentation (such as plane tickets or proof of residence) to verify your legitimate presence in that location

**Multiple Devices & Connections**

You are allowed to access and trade your account from multiple personal devices (e.g., phone, PC, laptop) simultaneously, and through different internet connections (Wi-Fi, mobile data), as long as:

* All devices belong to you.
* You are the only person trading the account.
* Your IP address remains within the same country.

Trading from different locations within the same country (e.g., home and university, different cities, different states) is permitted. Switching devices — for example, moving from a phone to a PC — will not cause an IP breach.

**VPN and VPS Usage**

The use of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and VPS (Virtual Private Servers) is permitted for trading activities and dashboard access. If an IP change is detected due to VPN use, you may be asked to explain the change — simply confirming VPN usage is sufficient. However, **do not complete the KYC (identity verification) process while connected to a VPN**, as this can cause IP mismatches that complicate verification.

**Trading from a different country while traveling**

You can trade freely while temporarily in a different country. This applies to both existing accounts and newly purchased accounts — trading from abroad for a short period before returning to your registered home country is allowed. If we detect an IP location that differs from your registered country, we may reach out to you for proof and an explanation. Acceptable proof includes plane tickets (in PDF format, both departure and return if applicable), live location sharing, or other methods deemed appropriate. You do not need to notify the team in advance, but be ready to submit documentation if requested.

This policy applies to all account types, including Phase 1, Phase 2, live accounts, and the OMO challenge.

Note that platform availability may vary depending on the region your IP is detected in. For example, MT5 is not available when accessing from a US IP address — only the Match Trader platform can be used in that case.
