What are the differences between Maven's one-step, two-step, and three-step trading challenges?

Trading Challenge Types

Maven offers three different trading challenge formats, each with distinct requirements and difficulty levels.

1-Step Challenge

Maven's 1-step challenge consists of a one-phased evaluation process where a trader must pass just one phase to get a funded account.

Challenge Requirements:

  • No minimum trading days
  • Unlimited maximum trading days
  • Phase 1 Target: 8% of the initial balance
  • Max Drawdown: 5% (trailing off your highest watermark of equity)
  • Daily Drawdown: 3% (based on the higher of your equity/balance at 00:00 UTC)

2-Step Challenge

The 2-step challenge consists of two evaluation stages — Phase 1 and Phase 2 — followed by the Funded Phase once both are successfully completed.

Challenge Requirements:

Phase 1 & Phase 2 share the same trading structure and rules, with only the profit target differing:

  • Phase 1 Profit Target: 8%
  • Phase 2 Profit Target: 5%
  • Minimum Trading Days: 3 profitable trading days (does not need to be consecutive)
  • Profitability Requirement: At least 0.5% NET profit based on the initial balance per day (e.g. $50 on a $10,000 account). All wins and losses within the day are counted together — only the net result matters.
  • A trading day runs from 00:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC.
  • Max Drawdown: 8% (Static)
  • Daily Drawdown: 4% (based on the higher of your equity/balance at 00:00 UTC)

3-Step Challenge

Maven's 3-step challenge consists of three evaluation phases: a trader needs to achieve a target in the first evaluation phase, the second and third verification phases before getting a funded account.

Challenge Requirements:

  • No minimum trading days
  • Unlimited maximum trading days
  • Phase 1 Target: 3% of the initial balance
  • Phase 2 Target: 3% of the initial balance
  • Phase 3 Target: 3% of the initial balance
  • Max Drawdown: 3% (Static)
  • Daily Drawdown: 2% (based on the higher of your equity/balance at 00:00 UTC)
